GROTON SCHOOL-BASED MENTORING PROGRAM
Our program has been in place since 1999 and we provide direct mentoring services to approximately 120 students per year. Our goal is to find a mentor for every student that has a need. There is always a waiting list so volunteer mentors are always needed.
This program is strictly a school-based program and all mentors meet with their mentees (the student participating in the program) during the school day in a common area of the school. Mentoring takes place for approximately 1 hour per week for the the entire school year. Mentors make a one year commitment to their mentee but many stay until graduation from high school.
