• Welcome to the West Side Library!

    Lizanne Johnson, Library Media Specialist

The library is open every day that school is in session.

There are currently weekly book clubs for sixth, seventh, and eighth graders during lunch. We usually follow a student selected theme for a month. The kids are reading some great books that I love to hear about.

Each quarter I teach two groups of eighth graders. The class is called Media Arts. I think of this class as media literacy. We cover digital citizenship, evaluating sources (think fake news), bias, citing sources, databases, and much more. I also have two groups of sixth graders each semester for STEM enrichment. We learn a lot about the library catalog, do some hands on technology activities, and learn to plan and create a book trailer.
