• iPad Info Sessions:

Friday, April 5, CMS Media Center, 8:30 am

We are very excited to have been awarded a Department of Defense Educational Activity grant for West Side Middle School which will provide iPads for all sixth graders to implement a flipped classroom approach to math instruction.  The school district was able to match this grant to support implementation at Cutler Middle School as well.   In the flipped classroom, students use videos for support of teacher instruction as part of their homework which allows teachers to use class time for more hands-on, individualized instruction.  Students, with parent permission, will be allowed to take the devices home and will turn the devices in at the end of the year.

Students are just beginning to use the devices in the math classrooms. Our Authorized Use Policy has been approved and sent home to be signed by parents and students.  Once these policy agreements are returned, we will expand use to other classrooms.  Loan agreements need to be signed before students are allowed to take the devices home.  The agreement is available in the school office and at iPad info sessions. The iPad info sessions are designed to help parents learn more about the program, the loan agreement and have all of their questions answered.  Info sessions will be listed on the Cutler homepage when they are scheduled.  Look for the link: iPad info.
Please feel free to contact your child's teacher, Judith Karp, Computer Teacher, or Karen Bryer, the district's K-12 Technology Coordinator, kbryer@groton.k12.ct.us, if you have any questions.  There is also some helpful information here.
