Diversified Health Occupations:
Year long 1 credit class for 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students interested in medical related/health science careers. Topics include medical and legal ethics, communicable diseases, anatomy and physiology and contemporary health/medical issues. Emphasis is placed on career opportunities in our 21st century health care system. This course is also the prerequisite for those students who want to be recommended for the Honors Nursing Assistant class.
Honors Nursing Assistant:
Year long 2 credit class for 11th and 12th grade students who have successfully completed Diversified Health Occupations and have been recommended by the teacher. This class is for students interested in nursing and related health care fields (social work, physical therapy, occupational therapy, pharmacy, etc.) After completing classroom and outside clinical placements (long term care and hospital) students take the Connecticut State Department Nurse Aide Competency Test and receive their Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license.
