The Groton Public Schools is proud to be one of only a handful of Connecticut school districts who have adopted a powerful on-line library circulation/cataloging program called Destiny. The purchase of Destiny will save the district thousands of dollars in hardware and labor costs because it is stored on one central server, thus eliminating the need for the frequent purchase, upgrade, and maintenance of building level servers. Since Destiny is Internet-based, anyone with Internet access can view our school library media collections.
    Destiny's Features:

    >Provides the capability to circulate, catalog, search, report and manage the entire GPS school library Collection in an online environment; the entire program is Web based.

    >Allows all authorized users to search any school library from any Internet ready computer, both from within as well as outside the district network;

    Provides several program enhancements to enable greater functionality, such as:
    • Title Peek, which gives students access to thousands of book cover images, book reviews, and summaries;
    • WebPath Express, which leads students to educator-approved, age-appropriate web sites for effective, productive Internet searching
    • State Standards, which aligns select titles within the school collections to the Connecticut state curriculum frameworks;
    • AV Access, which provides Marc records for including non-print materials into the collection's database.
