Mr. Sullivan

I am very excited to work with you and your child this year in Art Class! Throughout the year we will explore interesting topics of design, engage in creative discussion, and overall have fun in the academic setting. I can’t wait for what this year has in store for us. I thought you might like to know a little bit about me.

I was born in the Dominican Republic and currently reside in Mystic, CT with my family and 2 wonderful dogs. I attended S. B. Butler, Cutler Middle School, and Fitch Senior High School. I completed my undergraduate studies at Southern Connecticut State University, where I chose to pursue a degree in Graphic Design. I recently have completed my Master’s Degree in Education at the University of New Haven, and was fortunate for the opportunity to do my Student Teaching at Quaker Hill Elementary School in Waterford, last year. I worked as a 4th grade teacher and an Art Teacher (for a seasonal program) before gaining my role here at Butler.

It is my mission to instill a love for learning in my students. I attempt to teach with a passion for my subject so that students will develop a desire to become life-long artists and creators. I believe it is important to keep communication open between us, so please let me know if you have any questions or concerns (my email is jsullivan1@groton.k12.ct.us). Also there is an Instagram account (@sbb_artroom) where I will be posting as frequent as I can and will be using that platform to showcase student art.

I look forward to a great year together!

    Best regards,

    Mr. Sullivan
